Easter Sunday Service

Okay....so Easter this year was a little different for me, just as Christmas was for me. This was the first year that we 'really' focused on the true meaning of the season. For me, it was very emotional.

At church Easter Sunday (evening) service, the youth group performed this skit. At first when the 'drunk' came out, I was thinking 'boy, I'm not so sure that Noah should be seeing this'. By the time the 'Emo Guy' came out with the knife & gun, I knew for sure that I did not want Noah to be seeing this....BUT....

...once the true message of this skit revealed itself, I (literally) bawled my eyes. Thankfully we were sitting in the last row!!! Miss Ruth Anne (the pastors wife) was in the back taking care of the lighting. She caught a glimpse of the 'boo-hoo'er' in the back row' and came to my rescue with some Kleenex!!!

What a powerful message, eh? I love it!

Praise Christ....

....for dying for all us sinners.

We saw this video in church today. It brought me to ever so 'thankful' tears and I just wanted to share....

More natural consequences....

Well, kinda!

Today, while doing groceries Noah found a $10 BILL on the floor.

He was SO excited about finding 10 BUCKS.....I could just see his little brain going and thinking about what he could spend this money on.

He said "Mom, look what I found" (all excited)

The poor guy was CRUSHED when I told him we would take it to customer service in case someone had lost it. I continued to explain that 'this is what God would want us to do'. His response took me off guard when he ask"but what about that saying - 'finder's keeper's....something like that"! I responded by saying 'this saying is NOT in the bible'. Oh MY..... I also gave him an example of 'what if this was a single mom's LAST $10 that was going to be used to feed her baby'.

When he took the money to the customer service desk, the woman took his name and phone number. She told him that if no one claimed it within 30 days, they would call him and he could keep the money. I thought he would be so excited but then he showed major concern for the mom that needed that money to feed her baby!

How sweet! Keep your fingers crossed that the money belonged to a millionaire, that they won't notice it missing and that Noah gets a call from the grocery store to pick up the money for himself!!!!

Lately...

I've been busy with Noah's class, training for my new job, cleaning and taking care of my poor tooth....

I keep thinking about things to write about on my blog but then never get around to it. When I 'get around to it', I have another 'thing' to write about but then something comes up and I don't write about it so I'm just going to 'blab' on this post about what's been going on!

I've been in Noah's class much these days knowing that I am starting my p/t job soon and will not be able to be in his class as much as I have been. I'm feeling really sad about this but know it's something we have to do as well as something that will be good for me in so many ways. I am VERY lucky and so far I am pretty sure I will still be able to volunteer 1-2 days per week with his class (instead of 3-4 days per week like I have been doing). I really DO need to count my blessings that I have the opportunity to spend so much time in his class as I do!

Training for my new job has been a blast - in my pj's, with a hot cup of tea at the computer. You gotta love that, huh? I LOVE how MOST of this company's training, communication & reporting is online. We had a conference call just this morning - a little more training. Right before the call, our computer (or so I thought) went 'kaputs'....I was in panic mode. Once I got the laptop set up and re-organized my work area I calmed down and got logged on to the call. Then figured out it was the monitor (only)...feeeooouuu!

After my conference call, Noah & I took off to Staples to get a new monitor. WOW, talk about a treat going from a 15" to a 22"!!! You gotta love that!!!

Now my poor tooth. Let me start by saying that I've never had a cavity since I was a kid nor have I had any dental work done since I was - well, it's been YEARS (possibly over 10 years). Last November, our new dentist advised that all of my silver fillings needed to be replaced because there was 'evidence' of cavities forming under them. I found this weird, so I called our old dentist in Moncton. He told me it 'could' happen but was not at all 'likely'. He suggested I go to another dentist for an initial visit. All I could think about was that 'initial visit' cost that I just had at this new dentist at a nice price tag of around $200. So against better judgement, I went ahead to begin getting these old fillings out. The first visit SUCKED. After having my mouth open for so long, my jaw was SO stiff after the appointment. I felt sick and had a brutal headache.

After this visit, the one tooth has caused nothing but problems. I have been back to the dentist office 6 times and have had fillings in & out 4 times (medicated fillings, temporary fillings, permanent fillings, etc). Since the last one, my tooth has been ACHING so much so that I"ve had to take Tylenol on several occasions. When I went back this time, he told me it was an abscessed tooth and that he'd have to do a root canal - YIKES. Apparently, this is a 2 step process. Right now, I am on antibiotics with another temporary filling to let the infection drain. Then I have to go back on April 30 to have the root canal. Although, I think I may have to go in next week... He told me my tooth should NOT hurt after the antibiotics has a chance to kick in and guess what, it still HURTS very much. OUCH.....

So now you can understand why I've been MIA (missing in action)....and now you're all caught up. Heading into Easter weekend. We're going to have a big ham supper on Saturday night, an egg hunt Sunday morning, I'm getting the van cleaned inside & out tomorrow (that alone will make it a perfect weekend), Jacques is home from his business trip in Toronto (that makes it perfect too) and we're having company (Jacques' brother, his wife - Noah's God Parents and their 2 kids).....should be a terrific weekend.....YIPPY!

Hope you all have a FANTASTIC Easter weekend!

Sugar Camps & Storm Trooper Birthday Presents

Last week, I went on a field trip with both grade 2 French Immersion classes to a Sugar Camp. It was the perfect day.... I had so much fun!

Before we boarded the school bus, there was an argument amongst the children trying decide who would sit with me. They ended up having to play 'rock-paper-scissor' in order to help determine who would indeed sit with me. Thankfully Noah got to sit with me!

Check out those baby blues on my boy....this photo is un-edited with our small camera and his eyes STILL glow!!! I only wish I could have sparkling eyes like those!

We learned that this camp had over 11,000 buckets collecting sap - WOW!!! It looked SO beautiful walking through the woods. All you could see for what seemed like miles were trees, with buckets upon more trees and more buckets! Beautiful...

After we learned about running a sugar camp and making maple syrup, we ate a 'really' healthy lunch that consisted of a hot dog, a pancake and home fries. After we ate, we went outside to eat some homemade snow toffee/taffee....yummmy!

Check out the picnic tables.... they actually created them with a border to hold the snow for exactly this!!!

Now today (Saturday), Jacques was in a volleyball tournament. So between getting our hair trimmed, picking up Jacques car from an oil change and going shopping in the states, we went to see him play a few of his 16 (I think) games today. It was ALL worth it because Jacques' team WON the entire championship! I'm certainly proud of him.

While shopping in the states, Noah & I found exactly what he REALLY wanted for his birthday and something I've been unable to find in Grand Falls or even online.

I made a decision that I usually wouldn't have made....I let him get his gift early. It was the MOST priceless moment in the store - it actually brought me to tears as well as 2 other women nearby when the moment occurred!

Noah was 'googly-eyed' at these items and I just smiled at him all the while thinking about how would I ever pick them up before his birthday. He turned to put them back on the shelf and I made the call to get them early. I told him to get these items and put them in the cart. He was GENUINELY in shock, turned to me and hugged me as tight as I've ever felt him hug thanking me profusely. It was so special....
That's my boy - almost 8 years old. Where does time go?

And the photo below is Noah 'sporting' his new gifts (one from us and one from birthday money - 'most likely' his grandparents who usually send money). the storm trooper mask & a new light saber that makes sound and automatically opens.

He is SO thrilled.....

Mimi...

Our lovely little dog was 'almost' a goner tonight. I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it....

We were all sitting down to watch a movie when we realized that Mimi was not in the same room as us (which NEVER happens). We assumed we forgot her from outside, so I went upstairs and called her. I called her repeatedly and she did not come. So I went to the front window to look out to see if I could find her.

OH, did I ever see her in action. She was CHASING a pick up truck down the middle of the road. Why? I have no idea. She is a 10 lb little ball of love, not one of those dog chasing big dogs.

At quick glance, I could see 2 cars heading towards us and one going away from us (behind her behind the truck).... I started to freak, yelling "Jacques, Jacques go call Mimi before she get's hit". I wanted to keep an eye on her so I could yell down to him which direction she was going. It seemed to take him forever (but it was only my fear that slowed time down)....I yelled again "Jacques hurry up, there are more cars". At this point, I could now see at least 3 cars passing in front of our house..... THEN, Jacques called her and she started running towards the house....

I swear, it was within a foot or two of her getting struck by one of the cars..... As she was running and I was witnessing the near accident, I was *literally* screaming on the top of my lungs......

SHE MADE IT. SHE'S ALIVE. But she's one tired girl and she's dripping wet.

I can't wait for her to dry off and cuddle with her knowing how lucky we are that she is still alive.......

Oh no....

Two things happened today that have me somewhat giggly (partial nerves and partial innocent cuteness).

First...

I went to a sugar camp with all the Grade 2's in Noah's school today - had SO much fun. On the drive to the camp, in the bus I caught Noah acting silly with his 'buddies'. He was pretending to 'kiss' the back of the seat while saying 'Hey guys look, I'm making out with the seat'.

OH LORD, please help me!

Second...

After seeing a girl in the grocery store that was not very well 'covered', a cute conversation has now left me a little giggly & worried all at once. It went like this:
N: Mom, why do girls like to put those (*cupping his hands on his chest*), what are they called again?
M: Bras?
N: Yes, those. Why do girls like to put those down lower so boys can see more?
M: Ummm, well maybe some boys like that. Do you like that?
N: Ewuuu, NO that's gross Mommy.
M: Oh okay.
N: Actually, can we have "open mike" right now Mom? ("Open mike" is a new thing we do at special cuddle or bedtime now - it's where he can say ANYTHING that is on his mind without me saying ANYTHING - including consequences or getting upset)
M: Yes, any time Noah.
N: Mom, I kinda like that now.
M: Ummmm, really. That's okay but can I just ask you ONE teeny, tiny thing?
N: Yes Mom.
M: Just wait a few more years, because right now you're just a little too young.

AAAHHHH, it was SO hard NOT to say anything.

OH LORD, please help me!!

QUESTION: Any of you with boys of your own, or nephews, or friends that have kids - have they started these types of conversations with you? How have you handled these situations?
