Our Christmas 2008

Though Christmas was NOT a blur, it did go by WAY too fast.

We had lots of company (4 extra guests on the 25th, 9 extra guests on the 26th, 5 extra house guests on the 27th then 2 surprise visitors (my dad and step-mother) on the 28th), which meant lots of LOVE and little time to keep up-to-date on my blogging!!!

THIS was one of the most fun Christmas's I have had in so many years. EVERYTHING went off without a hitch, little stress and I even took time to enjoy a few drinks Christmas day!!!

Christmas Eve started out with a beautiful candle light service at Church....I even got choked up a little. It meant so much to me to KNOW that we really celebrated Christmas this year for the 'real' reason.....

Once we came home from church, look what the Pajama Elf left on Noah's bed.....

...he was pretty thrilled. Especially considering at supper (while playing hang-man - he used the word 'Ho Ho Ho' - man, oh man that pajama elf is one smart dude)!!!

Once in his pj's, some family came over to help prepare all the food (peeling potatoes, carrots & turnip) for Christmas Day - WHAT A HELP! We peeled 20 lbs of potatoes, 5 lbs of carrots and 2 full turnips.....all in about 30 minutes. I was so THANKFUL they did this!!!

This year, Noah was SO independent...wanted to do everything by himself - cookies (actually woopie pies), milk (actually egg nog) and carrots (one for each of the reindeer). Though we did convince him this year to 'cut' the carrot in pieces - one for each of the reindeer.

Christmas morning was PERFECT!!! Noah "slept in" until shortly after 6:00 am this year (compared to 4:30am last year and around 5:00 am in other years). Before we did ANYTHING, we brought our stockings to the living room and read Luke 2:1-7 The Birth of Jesus....what a BEAUTIFUL way to begin our day.

1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register.

4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:1-7

Once we finished this, we started opening stockings, which I got lots of video of. Before we opened our gift from Santa, Noah insisted on letting Mimi opening her gift so she'd have something to do while we opened our gifts. He opened it for her and gave her a chew toy from her gift.

Then onto SANTA's gifts.....Noah got a WII. He announced that it wasn't what he asked for but 'SO MUCH BETTER'. I don't think he expected something so BIG from Santa. Our family gift from Santa was some 'goodies' to go with the WII - an extra controller, recharging kit, etc.

BUT, most exciting present this year was Guitar Hero - World Tour (my gift to Jacques and Noah from me) and the WII Fit (from Jacques to me)...

Christmas Day (before everyone began arriving) went so fast....preparing the WII for play, playing on the WII, etc.

Once the guests began arriving, I handed each woman an 'O Holiday Hits 2008' CD and every guest 3 clothes pegs. We played a game all day with these pegs. Each time someone said YES or NO, we stole clothes pegs from each other. The person at the end of the day with the most clothes pegs won a prize - which ended up being Brenda!!!

The cooking of the food, setting of the table went SO smooth....it was absolutely perfect. Below is our holiday table - filled with 15 guests (only 3 had to go at the 'kiddie' table). It was beautiful...

Much of the day, the men & 'kids' were downstairs playing the WII....ROCKIN' on Guitar Hero...

So - Christmas 2008 was a big hit. It was PERFECT in every way!

I only hope that all of you had a WONDERFUL Christmas this year as well!
