How to interpret 10-10-10??

I don't know WHY, but this morning when I have 100 (or 10 x 10) other things to take care of, I am suddenly fascinated by the fact that today is October (the TENTH month), the 10th (or TENTH day), of 2010 (the TENTH year) otherwise known as 10/10/10 or 10-10-10!  Like, WHY had I not thought of this before now???

I thought I could leave it alone at a facebook status of "Today is 10/10/10 - does that mean anything??? Good luck, perhaps!", but I just can't.   I am so intrigued by this day, I keep searching different meanings of what this could possibly mean.

Choosing to SEE....

I just realized that I have not posted anything about this book yet and I can't believe it!

The book is Choosing to SEE by Mary Beth Chapman, wife of the Steven Curtis Chapman (a very well known Contemporary Christian Artist). 

This book is SO amazing in SO many ways.  It has profoundly touched me.  It has taught me about the kind of Christian I want to be, brought many words to feelings I had buried for the past 7 years (since the loss of our son, Joshua in 2003) and have given me hope to hold onto until the day we travel to Vietnam and have our worlds changed by adoption.

While reading this book, I have gone from a full on hard belly laugh to the point of almost wetting myself, right to a big, fat ugly cry.

I need not say anymore other than, watch the video then go buy the book and read for yourself!

Feels good...

Wednesday, I decided it was NO SCHOOL day so we could go pick Jacques up from the airport in Fredericton.  We didn't have to, but we really wanted to!

Actually...I did decide there was NO school, but we worked extra hard on Tuesday and Thursday to get the work done for Wednesday.  Plus, Noah worked on some worksheets in the van on the drive.

We picked Jacques up and went for a nice lunch!  Of course, I stopped in and picked up some more jewelry supplies while there.  Then on the drive home, we stopped in at some friends that moved away last month. 

Now, life has resumed to normal and Jacques is home for supper each night (at least for now) and it feels good!!!

Off for a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, with SO much to be thankful for.  Mostly, for the 2 days and 1 night Jacques are sneaking away to see the Gaspe coast during my favourite season of the year!

Can I have a second to pout?

Here goes:

I don't like it when my husband, Jacques travels.  In the past 2 months, his work schedule has been out of wack and I don't like it one bit.

For three weeks out of four weeks in August, he was away travelling on business.  For at least two of these weeks, he even travelled on Saturday's and/or both on Sunday's.  When he got home from these August trips, beginning in September, he rolled right into budget season and has been working late most nights.  Let's just say, he's been unavailable more than he's been available for the month of September.

I don't like it one bit.

Now he's away again and will be back soon.

I worry about him and about his health.  But most of all, I miss him to bits.

I can't wait for THIS budget season to be done and over with.

And that's a rap.  That's MY pout for the day!!!

On the positive side of things, thanks to his hard work and dedication to his career - I am awarded the opportunity to stay home and raise Noah as well as to choose to home school. 

So, I know it's NOT really 'that' bad!!! 

Zig Zag Zip Line - anyone in???

 OK...so I have to admit.  I've never really been a huge thrill seeking kinda gal, but when I heard that this Zip Line was coming to Grand Falls...I just KNEW that I had to do it.  The Zip Line goes across the Gorge/Falls in one direction then you come back (up closer to the Falls) in the other direction.  (Some more information can be found here:  www.zipzag.ca)

I haven't done it yet, as it just opened on Saturday - but I certainly wanted to check it out.

After church today, we went down to check it out closer.

Up to this point, Jacques and Noah were adamant that they were NOT allowing me to go on this.  I was quite perturbed because I knew they would NEVER stop me...so don't try and tell me you will!

All Jacques kept saying was 'you'll NEVER get me on this', or 'yeah sure, it's probably safe but you know what?  i don't want to be the statistic in the sense that HE'S the one in a million that fall to their death'!!! 

Well...I am certain it is beyond safe, so I'm willing to take THAT chance!

Though we didn't do it today, we WILL be back to take the adventure of our lives!  And Jacques has agreed to come with me!

Week Four - Homeschooling

It's DONE.....finally!

Jacques mom was recovering from having a pace maker put in the week before, so she was staying with us.

In regards to Noah's learning, it was a challenging week.  It's hard considering we're still trying to get on a schedule then add a house guest into our mix, it was a little harder for Noah to concentrate (which he sometimes already has a hard time doing).

As for the academics, he is plowing right along in Math.  This week, by the advise of our consultants, we have been doing 2 lessons a day in Math due to the fact that he is SO overly bored.  He had a 3rd math test that he got 19/20 on - WAY TO GO!!!  He's a little smarty pants in Math just like Mom & Dad - I guess it runs in the family!

Still having some challenges getting him into reading 'good books' with content, rather than his favourites like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Sponge Bob and Star Wars.  But we're working through it !  I am doing some out loud reading to help him get through this book (that I am not even enjoying - but shhhh, don't tell him that).  Maybe we'll find another one that will be more appealing to him!

Grammar is starting to be somewhat challenging for him and we're having to spend more time working through the lessons.  I'm glad he's challenged now, because at the rate he was going - he was getting bored!

Moving on forward with week 5 approaching (and my lesson plans are not done for the week) - better look into that this afternoon!!
