Jacques had worked EVERY night and EVERY day since he returned back to work after Christmas. Life was starting to get a little lonely around here with just Noah & I, so we decided to take a road trip to PEI (with a short stop in Moncton) this weekend.
I had decided that I would pull him from school on Friday (but then woke up Friday morning to find out school was canceled due to the temperatures being so low). The first thing he said was, 'THAT was a waste of a snow day'!!! LOL
We left bright & early on Friday morning in the -40's....after letting the car run for 30 minutes (and it STILL wasn't warmed up). It was a GREAT drive, uneventful. First stop, my old work for a few minutes (which turned into 1.5 hrs) before THE RED PEPPER Restaurant (my FAVOURITE restaurant)!!! While dining at The Red Pepper, we sent Jacques a photo of Noah looking onto our plates via the cell phone!
We went for a little shop at La Bonne Nouvelle (The Good News) book store (a Christian book store that I LOVE and miss from Moncton). Got Noah a devotional book, tabs for his bible, Veggie Tales DVD & Activity book and for me I got a whole whompin' magnifine bookmark to help me ready my bible!!! Great visit - Noah really 'cleaned up'!!! The study bible I wanted was not in stock - maybe next time! Though I DID find a 'MOM'S Devotional Bible' that I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for possibly Mother's Day (if you're reading dear - hint, hint)!!!
Then we continued onto PEI....stopped at Dad's store & had a nice little visit! Noah got spoiled (as usual) - a surprise bag & a hot chocolate. I warmed up with a cup of tea! Then onto Krista's house.
Krista & I had a great visit that night - stayed up chatting until nearly midnight - just 'girl' time!!! Saturday we went swimming at the Cari Pool at UPEI. What an AWESOME place. Huge pool with a large water slide, 3 diving boards, kiddy area, toddler area, hot tub, a BIG rope to swing and jump from....etc. We were there for (I think) almost 2 hours. I was such a proud parent. Considering Noah just started 'really' swimming on his own in the deep water this past summer, he lost some of his confidence (that was until that day)!!! By the end of the day, Krista & I were in the hot tub and he was racing from the water slide to the diving board, jumping off and swimming to the side on his own! I was SO proud of him!
After swimming we dined at East Side Mario's (another favourite of mine)....yummy! I even ordered Jacques a meal to take with me for Sunday night when we returned home!
Sunday morning, Noah & I got up early and took off to go visit with Dad & Nicole for the morning before we began our trek back home (around noon). Though we made it home in good time, it wasn't a pleasurable experience considering it was snowing & blowing harder from 2 hours out! BUT, we made it (safe & sound) so all is well.
I can't believe I forgot my camera....but will admit that it was nice to experience the moments for what they were -versus with my eye through the lens of my camera!!!
Hope you all had a great weekend as well!
