So many things are rushing my thoughts about how....
- my friend just got back on Dec 12 – EXACTLY 1 month from the date of this disaster - from where the devastation has taken place and am so glad she wasn't there when this happened (how selfish, huh?)
- I hadn't even announced on my blog that only 9 days ago, my first mission trip was booked for Dec 4-11, 2010 to go to HAITI
- my soul aches for a country I've never even visited
As soon as Noah got on the bus this morning, I began PRAYING and the more I hear about the damage and the deaths, the more I PRAY.
Dianne & I spoke this morning, she has no information if her sponsor daughter (and her family) is well or not. She is anxiously waiting to find out.
They DO know that New Mission's compound – that is approximately 10 miles from where the earthquake hit is safe from damage and all the mission team members currently in Haiti are SAFE – Amen!
New Missions – is the organization that Dianne traveled with (and the same one we will travel with this year). The compound is the place where the mission team members stay and where they do all of their work from.
NOW, Roland (and his wife Bernice – who Dianne traveled with) are working on finding out if their sponsor children (Sandy – Roland & Bernice and Wenderline – Dianne & Maurice) are safe. Roland & Bernice have traveled to Haiti 3 or 4 years in a row and have sponsored Sandy for 10 years. We will be traveling with them in December when we go. Thanks to Roland, my trip is booked!!
So I must go so I can watch more CNN....I just can't peel my eyes from the TV.
