We started sponsoring her last July so this is her first birthday gift from us. I bought her a cute little spring dress and LOTS of goodies from the dollar store that she can easily share with her family. I only pray she receives the package considering 1. we never did hear if she received her Christmas gift and 2. the package was quite a bit larger than is allowed. (*fingers & toes crossed*)

Happy Birthday to our sponsor child
Our sponsor child, Claudia, has a birthday coming up on April 11 (the same day as my nephew). Considering her family lives in such poverty....I like to spoil her with enough goodies to share for all. I am a little late shipping (considering I also shipped ground) so it will most likely be late arrive - but I guess better late than never.

For any of you with sponsor children through World Vision, please let me know if your kids have received their gifts.

Oh how I hate to admit it but I am a BAD TERRIBLE sponsor mom...I've never sent a birthday gift to my little Brice and I've been his sponsor for several years now. :(
That's awesome!! I am sure she will love it.
As far as the kids getting it goes, my Tsehay in Ethiopia has gotten every single package I sent. I know this because I get a letter thanking me every time, and because I saw it when I visited her in February. It does often take a LONG time to receive this thank you letter. I just got a letter last week in response to the package I sent in November.
I also have a little boy in Haiti. I have received 2 letters from him, but one was just the intro letter and one was thanking me for money I sent. I am not sure if he is getting the packages, but I am confident that he is and, like Tsehay, it will just take a while to hear back (I only began sponsoring him in November).
As another option, have you ever considered sending money? As you probably know, with WV the money from your sponsorship goes to the community- schools, clean water, training programs, etc. BUT, you have an option fo sending money no more than once a year, of a minimum of $150 which goes directly to your sponsor child. I sent Tsehay $150 last year and she bought a dress, shoes, and a cow for her family's farm. I sent Dieujuste, my little guy in Haiti, $150 and they bought an ox for their farm. In both cases, I received a thank you letter and a photo of my child and their family with whatever they bought. This is really great because it can give the family a hand up... and you also get an extra photo! I know $150 isn't a possibility for everyone, but I like to put some money away each paycheck for things like this so that each year I can send my kids extra money.
Just a thought!!
Oh and I forgot! One thing I have noticed the kids really appreciate is bars of soap! I know- something we totally take for granted!! And of course books in their language is the best thing.
