So far, I notice many differences between this year and the last 2 years. It's getting much more competitive (I don't really like this very much). Not sure if it's the difference between Dieppe & Grand Falls hockey associations or whether it's the difference between moving from Initiation to Novice. Will know more as the season progresses, I guess!
Noah had 2 hockey games yesterday! To start the day off, all the families met at Tim Horton's for some breakfast & coffee for the ride! Once we arrived at the arena (in Saint Quentin), the boys got ready and the game began. I was shocked & surprised to find out that none of the arena's in this area (or any of the ones we will be playing at) are HEATED. Shhhhheeeeesssshhhh! The team lost this game 2-1 and the kids were a little bummed....but that's life, right!
To warm up (before we went to the next UNHEATED), we stopped at Tim's for a 2nd round of Tea & Coffee. This game was amazing. Get this...3rd period, the game was 4 to 1. Then BOOM, BOOM, BOOM - 3 goals in a row to tie it up. Noah's line came out and HE scored the 5th goal (WAY TO GO, BUDDY!) to bring them to the lead. Considering there was only minutes left in the game we 'thought' this would be the winning goal. THEN 13 seconds to go, the other team tied it up.
To end the great day of hockey off, several of the families went to Pizza Delight for lunch/supper. What fun, getting to know some of the parents & kids.
It was an awesome day - I can't wait to watch Noah's game transform this year (as we have in past years)....we are SO proud of you, Noah!
It was only 8:30 or so when we got home from the movies. The boys got their teeth brushed, pj's on and got into bed. Jacques told them 'lights out at 10:30 pm' - but at 9:30 pm Zach & Caleb told us they were tired. So lights out it was - HA! Several times, but many fewer than I had expected - 1, 2 or 3 of the boys came down needing something, or wanting a drink, scared, wanting to watch another movie, etc. Jacques responded most of the time to the boys' requests and I finally went to bed around 10:30pm. At this time, Noah, Zach AND Caleb were in Noah's double bed. They told me they were scared and wanted to come into bed with me - HA, not!!! I fell asleep, Jacques came to bed and when I got up in the morning the boys were scattered throughout the house!!! LOL Noah was in his room, Zach & Caleb in the spare and the fort was abandoned in the living room!!!
Once they all got up (way too early - around 7:00 am), they played. We ate breakfast, they did some origami, played some Star Wars then went to watch a movie (to give Jacques & I some time to clean up the broken down fort).
We took the boys home just before lunch. Now, Jacques, Noah & I are relaxing (some of us dozing off) trying to recover from a late night followed by an early morning!
Fun was had by all....so that's what's important!
